Facebook fined $122 million by European Union (EU) Regulators for misleading information about WhatsApp app.

Facebook is one of the largest social media networks in the world. They fined by the European Union (EU) regulators because of misleading related WhatsApp. The case investigating from sometimes, now finally they announced the decision. They also clear that all the companies must comply with European Union rules.

European Union (EU) also said that Facebook is the best aware of the technical possibility. They also know that it could happen in the future. Facebook claimed that

EU competition commissioner, Margrethe Vestager stated that,

Today’s decision sends a clear signal to companies that they must comply with all aspects of EU merger rules, including the obligation to provide correct information. It imposes a proportionate and deterrent fine on Facebook. The commission must be able to take decisions about mergers’ effects on competition in full knowledge of accurate facts.

The European commission said in the press conference, it is not related separate data protection. In September 2016, Germany ordered to Facebook that they stop collecting data from WhatsApp. Facebook collect the data from the UK WhatsApp users as agreed with the Germany ordered. WhatsApp was fined €3 million from the Italian authorities to share data with Facebook. The European Commission announced in December 2016.
