Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will lay the foundation stone on for the upcoming Lahore-Sialkot motorway project,

 

The Lahore-Sialkot motorway will be built with the help of public-private partnership and will be up to par with international standards. The motorway will start from the Lahore Bypass interchange and will be connected to M2 near Kala Shah Kaku and will end 15 kilometers inside the west of Sialkot. Six interchanges 89 kilometers long and two service areas will be constructed. The project is expected to take two years’ time.

Rs 847.43 billion will be spent on the project, which will be sponsored by FWO while the NHO is the authority to oversee the implementation of the motorway. Sources from the Prime Minister House claimed that currently there were thirteen motorway projects under construction in Pakistan and that Nawaz Sharif himself was overseeing the construction as well as efficiency of the project.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is expected to be busy in the current week with tackling the challenge of terrorism and the National Action Plan. A meeting will be held in the current week which will be attended by all the Chief Ministers of Pakistan and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan. After spending a day in Karachi, the PM Nawaz will leave for Islamabad from Lahore on Monday afternoon.

During his general elections campaign speeches, the PML-N chief made promises to build motorways in order to facilitate the masses.
